The Foothills Club has hosted events since the mid 80’s at various locations throughout Georgia and South Carolina and since 2005, the Country Hearth Inn has been our home. You may be aware that the hotel was recently sold and is now under new management.

As anticipated, new management is tasked with becoming more profitable and more efficient while at the same time, reducing costs associated with the every day operations of the hotel. Those of you who have been with us for the past 3 years are aware of how the hotel has improved over what it was when we first walked in the door.

Over that same time period, we have worked with the hotel to keep our room rates the lowest price possible and lower than any other club in our area.

Many of you are also aware of the on going complaints concerning the hotel including the lack of air conditioning, little or no hot water, among other issues, and while we have listened and forwarded your comments, they have thus far fallen on deaf ears.

My last newsletter to you indicated even more changes including our loss of the kitchen facilities as well as the loss of the indoor pool after the party. In addition to the issues above, the hotel has also decided that effective October 1st 2008, the room rates will increase to $50 per night. We feel this is unacceptable for a sub-standard hotel.

Our main goal at The Foothills Club is to look out for the club and its members and act in its best interest. Providing our members a safe, healthy and comfortable environment has been our mission and this has not changed. If you have joined us in the past year, you have experienced the phenomenal growth of the club, doubling attendance in less than a year. This has not been without growing pains and we have heard your comments and suggestions; there have been many.

What you may not be aware of is we have actually had to turn couples away from our events because we didn't have a hotel room for them or space in the ballroom for them to enjoy the party. We have turned away 23 couples this month. We didn't want to compromise the safety of our members by putting more people in the ballroom than was allowed. Yes, it’s been tight in the hotel and ballroom; and we've even had couples staying in another hotel over a mile away – they wanted to be at one of our events that bad.

We have listened and researched and we believe we have found the best solution to the problems and we believe you will agree. There will be quite a few changes that we will all have to work through, but in the end, the result will be that The Foothills Club will be The Best Club in the Southeast; not just South Carolina; here’s why.

We have located a hotel that is very close to the Country Hearth Inn; you won't have to drive any further to attend one of our events than you do now. The hotel, built in 2003 has 200 rooms, most with dual Queen Size beds along with Suites with King Size beds and sleeper sofas. It also has high speed Internet access, an indoor pool, a lounge, and a restaurant serving all 3 meals. It has ballroom space to host as many as 400 people.

This hotel has the amenities of the first class hotel our members have been wanting for quite some time. By now you are probably thinking, ‘oh no, this is going to cost a fortune!’.

The bad news is that the room rate isn't going to be $40 a night, but the good news is, it will only be $50; the same price the Country Hearth Inn is going to in October and you will be staying in an over sized First Class room with luxurious queen or king size beds. Our event rate will remain at $35.

Total cost for a weekend of fun at The Foothills Club: $135 (room for Friday and Saturday night, plus the cost of the party). We will still have Karaoke on Friday night, in our own private ballroom with drinks served by their bartender. We believe we have found the best solution to the issues above without it costing our members any more than they would be paying in October.

When is this change going to happen? This hotel wants our business so bad, they would love to have hosted us this past weekend but it will be September. We know many of our members took a tour of the new hotel this past weekend and were thoroughly impressed.

We only have one request. We want our September event to be one huge party showing them what The Foothills Club is all about. Work with us to fill every available room within this hotel and let’s pack the ballroom all weekend. Let’s usher in this new partnership and make an impression with them that they won't soon forget! Please let us know what you think of this change and the up grade for only $10 a night. You will not believe the difference and this is what most of you have been asking for.
